Obstacle Course Competition
Attempt 8 defined obstacles and submit video as continuous footage shot in 1 take. Obstacles are to be completed in order from through to 8.
Each competitor may enter 3 classes but only 1 class per horse. A horse may only compete in one class and with one rider/handler.
Flair, accuracy, control, calmness and safety will be rewarded highly by the judges.

3. Post video to the Competition with a Difference Event on the Farmalogic Equine Facebook Page.
Entries open: 30th April 2020
Entries close: All competitors must be registered by 14th May 2020
Video links must be submitted by: 17th May 2020
Class 1: Ridden – must complete at least six obstacles whilst ridden. Two obstacles may be ridden or led. Any saddle style permitted.
Class 2: Bareback ridden class – must complete at least six obstacles whilst ridden. Two obstacles may be ridden or led.
Class 3: Led, long-reined or harness class
Class 4: Hobby horse or lead your dog/other animal
Fancy Dress Contest– entrants in classes 1 to 4 may also select the option to compete in fancy dress.
No late entries will be accepted.
Open to all horse lovers residing in Australia and New Zealand.
Dress code – Clean and tidy. Plaiting/banding and formal attire not necessary.
Obstacles are to be completed in order from through to 8.
Obstacle 1: COMPULSORY
Requirement: Flat ground
Circle of trot, 20m diameter
Obstacle 2: COMPULSORY
Requirement: Flat ground
Walk 40m with horse’s head lowered, on a long rein
Obstacle 3: SELECT ONE OPTION
Requirement: Flat ground
Option 1: Circle of canter, 20m diameter
Option 2: Figure of 8 in trot, each circle to be 15m diameter
Obstacle 4: SELECT ONE OPTION
Requirement: 1 or 2 Poles, at least 1.8m long
Option 1: Reverse between 2 poles placed 1.5m apart
Option 2: Side pass over pole on ground
Obstacle 5: SELECT ONE OPTION
Requirement: 2 Wheelie bins or 44 gallon drums placed at least 10m apart OR 4 poles, at least 1.8m long
Option 1: Pick up an item of your choice from one drum/bin and carry and place on second drum/bin. Extra points will be awarded for larger/noisier or funny items J
Option 2: Rein back through an L-shaped pole grid (led or ridden). This is one option where entrants in the ridden class may choose to dismount.
Obstacle 6: SELECT ONE OPTION
Requirement: Object to carry over jump, umbrella
Option 1: Open an umbrella from the saddle (Judged with a x3 multiplying factor)
Option 2: Open an umbrella beside horse while dismounted (Judged with a x2 multiplying factor)
Option 3: Mount and dismount from the off-side (Judged with a x2 multiplying factor)
Option 4: Ride over a small jump whilst carrying an object (Judged with a x2 multiplying factor, extra points for larger/noisier or funny items)
Obstacle 7: SELECT ONE OPTION
Requirement: Optional pool of water or tarpaulin, minimum 1 square metre)
Option 1: Turn on the Haunches
Option 2: Turn on the Forehand
Option 3: Walk through a pool of water or over a tarp (all hooves must touch water/tarp)
Obstacle 8: SELECT ONE OPTION
Requirement: Tarpaulin minimum 1 square metre held down by poles on either side OR rope and hay-filled chaff bag.
Option 1: Walk or trot over tarp, horse’s feet to touch tarp (led or ridden). This is one option where entrants in the ridden class may choose to dismount.
Option 2: Drag a chaff bag full of hay by a rope attached to the bag.
Option 3: Free choice – show us something special your horse or pony can do.
Area: Course must be conducted on relatively flat area with room for a 20m diameter circle to be performed.
Riders/handlers may enter up to 3 horses. A horse may only compete in one class and with one rider/handler. Multiple tests videoed of one horse with different riders will not be accepted.
Animal cruelty will not be tolerated.
Videos must be taken from 1 metre outside the obstacle course area.
Videos must be clear with minimial shaking and sound must be on (no music or soundtracks to be edited in)
Videos must be taken in one continuous shoot – movements cannot be cut and pasted together.
Videos are not to be edited to include effects or enhancements
Appropriate zooming is highly encouraged to assist the judges. Marks may be lost if the judges cannot clearly see the horse and obstacle.
Saddlery and equipment must comply to rules of your usual discipline e.g. EA/ABCRA/ABHA/ANWE/AQHA/HSAA/HRCAV/INRHA/NCHA/PCA
Safety gear – protective headgear, shoes and sun safe clothing must comply to rules of your usual discipline e.g. EA/ABCRA/ABHA/ANWE/AQHA/HSAA/HRCAV/INRHA/NCHA/PCA
Riders under 18 years of age must wear a Pony Club approved safety helmet.
Entries can only be made online at www.farmalogicglobal.com. Incomplete information may result in the entry not being accepted.
The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
Results will be announced on the Farmalogic Equine Facebook and Instagram pages within 14 days of event completion.
The entrant gives consent to the use of their video/images for product promotional purposes, without compensation.
The winner must be an Australian or New Zealand resident and will have 7 days to make contact to claim their prize.
